An AI citation optimisation tool that grades sentences, not pages

Think of it as Grammarly, except the grade is: will an AI answer engine quote this? AI assistants answer your customers' questions by quoting web pages, sentence by sentence. Quotable shows which of your sentences are quotable and which are invisible to them, so you know exactly what to rewrite before you publish or while you refresh old content.

Two ways to check AI citability: audit a page or lint a draft

Quotable works on published pages and on text you have not published yet.

  • Audit any page: click the toolbar icon on any article or CMS preview and Quotable paints a heatmap on the page, green for quotable, amber for fixable and red for invisible.
  • A score panel ranks your most quotable passages and the ones to fix first.
  • Lint any draft: paste text into the popup and it scores live, sentence by sentence.
  • Each weak line gets a specific fix, so you know what to change rather than just what scored badly.

The five signals behind each citability score

Every sentence gets a score from 0 to 100, built from five signals that separate a liftable standalone fact from prose an engine cannot quote.

  • Concreteness: numbers, statistics and named entities
  • Self-containedness: sentences that open with "This", "It" or "They" cannot be lifted alone
  • Length fit: tight, single-claim sentences beat 40-word walls
  • Structure and position: under a heading, in a list, near the top
  • Quotable patterns: definitions, stat-led openings and direct answers

Who Quotable is for

Quotable is for SEO and AEO professionals, content teams, and anyone writing to be cited in the AI answer era. Editors can audit a CMS preview before a piece goes live, and writers can lint a draft in the popup while they work, fixing weak sentences one at a time.

Private by design: scoring runs in your browser

Quotable is a pure text-scoring engine that runs entirely in your browser. It makes zero network requests and needs no account, no API keys and no analytics. It has no host permissions and only reads a page when you click "Audit this page" on that tab. Your text never leaves your device.

What Quotable does not do

Because it makes no network requests, Quotable does not query ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini, and it does not report whether they have actually cited your page. It scores your writing against the five signals above, so the score tells you how quotable a sentence is likely to be, not a confirmed citation.

About Quotable

Frequently asked questions

How do I make my content more likely to be cited by AI?

Write sentences that can stand alone as facts. Quotable's scoring rewards concrete numbers and named entities, sentences that do not depend on "This" or "It", tight single-claim length, placement under headings or in lists near the top, and patterns such as definitions, stat-led openings and direct answers. It flags the lines that miss these and suggests a fix.

What does the Quotable score measure?

Each sentence gets a 0 to 100 score from five signals: concreteness, self-containedness, length fit, structure and position, and quotable patterns. Together they estimate how easily an AI answer engine could lift that sentence as a standalone fact. A score panel then ranks your most quotable passages and the ones to fix first.

Can I check a draft before it is published?

Yes. Paste a draft into the Quotable popup and it scores live, sentence by sentence, with a specific fix for each weak line. You can also click the toolbar icon on a CMS preview to see the colour-coded heatmap on the page before it goes live.

Does Quotable check whether ChatGPT has actually cited my page?

No. Quotable makes zero network requests, so it never contacts ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini. It scores the text itself for how likely those engines are to quote each sentence. Use it to improve the writing; the score is a likelihood based on five signals, not a record of real citations.

Is my content sent to a server?

No. Quotable runs entirely in your browser with zero network requests, no account, no API keys and no analytics. It has no host permissions and only reads a page when you click "Audit this page" on that tab. Your text never leaves your device.

What do the green, amber and red highlights mean?

When you audit a page, Quotable paints a heatmap over the text. Green marks sentences that are quotable, amber marks sentences that are fixable, and red marks sentences that are invisible to AI answer engines. The score panel lists which passages to fix first.
