SERP Pixel Share · Free Chrome extension
Where Position 2 Actually Renders
SERP Pixel Share is a free Chrome extension that shows your true SERP position in pixels, not just your rank: where each result renders on a live Google results page, how much space AI Overviews and ads take above it, and what that does to clicks.

Rank position vs pixel rank on a Google results page
Rank tracking tells you that you are position 2. It does not tell you that position 2 can render at 1,680 pixels, below an AI Overview and two ad blocks, where it performs closer to position 9. SERP Pixel Share measures that gap on the live results page. It reports pixel position, effective rank, AI Overview citation share and blue-link CTR, so you can see where clicks actually go rather than where a ranking report says they should.
What SERP Pixel Share measures on each results page
Every clickable block on the page is found, classified and measured, so the pixel rank of your listing sits in the context of everything above it.
- Element types: AI Overview, ads, shopping, People Also Ask, organic, sitelinks, featured snippets, video, image packs, local packs, discussions, knowledge panels and top stories
- Pixel geometry per element: vertical offset, height and share of total page height
- Whether each element falls above the fold at desktop, laptop and mobile sizes
- Effective position: your rank restated as the rank whose clean-SERP CTR matches your suppressed estimate
- AI Overview presence, how much page height it occupies and which domains it cites, including whether one of them is yours
- Blue-link CTR: your Search Console CTR recomputed over only the impressions where no AI Overview fired
How the true position readout works
The results appear in two places, so you can glance at a SERP or dig into it in detail.
- On the live Google results page, inline CTR labels appear beside each listing, with a summary readout.
- The side panel carries the full breakdown: metrics, click share by element and a vertical pixel map of the page.
- Export the breakdown to CSV for spreadsheets or reports.
- Optionally connect Search Console to see actual CTR beside the estimate and to calibrate the model.
Calibrating CTR estimates with Search Console
Every coefficient in the CTR model is a default meant to be replaced. Connect Search Console and the extension solves feature-suppression coefficients from your own data rather than published averages. Estimated CTR is model output, not measured data, and the interface labels it that way everywhere it appears. If you put these numbers into a client report, keep that distinction clear.
Who a pixel rank tool is for
SERP Pixel Share is built for anyone who reports rankings and has to explain traffic that does not match them. Blue-link CTR answers the question teams keep asking: did our CTR really collapse, or did the SERP change shape? The CSV export and clear labelling of estimates make it practical for client reporting.
Privacy: nothing about your SERPs leaves your machine
Nothing about the pages you measure leaves your machine. There are no analytics, no telemetry and no backend. The only outbound requests go to Google's own Search Console API, and only if you choose to connect it.
About SERP Pixel Share
Frequently asked questions
What is pixel rank in SEO?
Pixel rank describes where a result actually renders on the results page, measured as its vertical offset in pixels, rather than its numbered position. Two results at position 2 can sit at very different depths depending on AI Overviews, ads and other features above them. SERP Pixel Share measures that offset for every element on a live Google SERP.
Why does my position 2 ranking get so few clicks?
Your listing may render far down the page. Position 2 can sit at 1,680 pixels, below an AI Overview and two ad blocks, where it performs closer to position 9. SERP Pixel Share shows the pixel offset, whether the result is above the fold, and an effective position that reflects that suppression.
What is effective position?
Effective position restates your rank as the rank whose clean-SERP CTR matches your suppressed CTR estimate. If features above your listing pull its estimated CTR down to the level of a much lower position on a plain results page, effective position reports that lower number so the ranking reflects the real layout.
Do I need to connect Google Search Console?
No, it is optional. Without it, the extension uses default CTR coefficients and labels all CTR figures as estimates. If you connect Search Console, you see actual CTR beside the estimate, get blue-link CTR, and the model solves feature-suppression coefficients from your own data rather than published averages.
Is the estimated CTR accurate?
Estimated CTR is model output, not measured data, and the interface labels it that way everywhere it appears. Its accuracy depends on the coefficients, which start as defaults. Connecting Search Console calibrates them from your own data and shows actual CTR next to the estimate, so you can judge the gap yourself.
Does SERP Pixel Share send my search data anywhere?
No. Nothing about the pages you measure leaves your machine, and there are no analytics, telemetry or backend. The only outbound requests are to Google's own Search Console API, and only if you choose to connect your Search Console account to the extension.
